A Castro trade, at least right now, is very unlikely. If there's any movement on that front, it will most definitely be this offseason. I want to see Mendy and Baez succeed, but that is far from a guarantee. I love Schwarber, but I doubt he's in the majors before August. As for your query about the Mets, I just don't see the fit. They're a competitive team and so they're not going to trade win-now assets. Matz and deGrom are young and cost-controlled and a team that wants to win needs good starting pitching depth. No reason to trade either one of them, especially for a scuffling shortstop. Both teams are best served by looking elsewhere.

It sure seems like the events are unfolding toward a Starlin Castro trade? Russell looks like he's here to stay. Baez is waiting in the wings in the minors. Schwarber is knocking on the door in left (potentially stopping Bryant from moving there) and the Cubs need help in the rotation. Could the cubs get deGrom or Matz for Castro and change?
