I'm surprised how many people think we as fans care about who gets their cut of millions of dollars and when they get it. This issue is about the extra year of control. All I care about is the Cubs get an extra year of Kris Bryant. It won't stop him from becoming ridiculously wealthy, especially in that final year, or the Cubs trying to find ways to pass that bill on to their fans regardless of what he gets paid.

Like basically every Boras client, whether or not the Cubs upset Bryant in April has NOTHING to do with whether he'll stay with the Cubs when he's a free agent. He'll test the market like Boras wants and sign for the highest bidder like Boras wants. If Boras doesn't like his clients getting treated this way, then Boras only has himself to blame.

There are three sides to this dispute (MLB, MLBPA and agents), and all three of them constantly violate "the spirit of the rules" to their own advantage, and we fans are the ones who are always trapped in the middle paying for it one way or another.
