I have very mixed feelings about Castro. As a long-time Yankee fan I enjoy seeing the development of their prospects. One I became attached to is Refsnyder. With Castro coming to the Bronx Refsnyder becomes irrelevant once more. I wanted the team to just give him a chance but that will likely never happen unless Castro gets hurt. Even if he merely just struggles he will log in the majority of time just like Drew.

I have mixed feeling about Castro. I wanted to love him, but really found it difficult. Like you I saw what he did in those early days and thought "wow, he's our guy??" Once they started stockpiling middle infielders I knew someone was going to eventually be squeezed out. Castro was the easiest to think about trading because he has a team-friendly contract and a potential trade partner would pretty much know what they were getting (unlike relying on projections). After Russell came up last year and watching Castro seemingly ground out to third every at-bat I wanted him gone. His post-benching performance was exciting but a small sample size out of an otherwise disappointing season. The Cubs fortunes had been raised and I hated the prospect of Castro dragging them down while someone like Baez sat on the bench.

That said, he's still an incredible talent and I hope he goes on to become an all-star again in the AL. I wish him the best (except if the Cubs ever meet the Yankees in the WS).

Very well stated, Rian--my sentiments exactly. It could not have been easy being a Cub prior to this year, and I wish him only the best as a Yankee.
