Let's be realistic. If either Arrieta or Lester get injured it'll either be the 15-game DL variety or lost for the season rather than missing a big chunk of the middle of the season. They are much less likely to "roll and ankle" or get injured on a takeout slide, the 6 to 8 week variety injuries.

That said, my concern isn't with the regular season but the playoffs. Losing Lester or Arrieta would be the worst of all scenarios but barring any other significant losses in the regular lineup they should be able to score enough runs to win 95+ games again. Then the playoffs will begin, and as we know, run prevention will be much more of a premium. Ideally regardless of injury they'll somehow manage to pry Carrasco from the Indians so will go into October with Arrieta, Lester, Carrasco and Lackey as #s 1 through 4.............dreaming in january.

Agreed. I like the idea of Warren but only 20 career starts (17 last season).

I think you're probably not weighing Lester's track history enough when you suggest Warren is a better pitcher. Lester has proven it for a long time.

Warren 3.29 ERA last yr. in tougher AL Central. Lester 3.34, 3.55 lifetime. Warren beats Jonny Boy in WHIP, OPS, ERA, and would keep beautiful Ross off the field. Umm...I think we're ok there, and esp cuz Lester has no biz in same convo with Arrieta.

Plz don't make the oft-repeated mistake of grouping Lester w/ Arrieta. If Lester goes down, I'll take Adam Warren's 3.29 ERA in the AL East all day over Jonny Boy's 3.34 in the NL Central. Warren also beats Lester in OPS--last yr AND LIFETIME.

Added bonus: we'd get killer Ross off the field.
