Cards have been the top dog in the division for quite some time now. When other teams made a run, it was pretty apparent that it would be a short lived. This is different.

Wainwright saw the Cubs up close and personal. He knows that they employ a elite manager, front office and young core. It must sting seeing two of your best players leave to your bitter rival. I'm sure it bruised his ego a bit and it slipped out in a ugly way. The Cubs are set to challenge the old order and its people feel threatened.

Excellent analysis of a phenomenon that is, regrettably, all too pervasive in the culture at large. By naming it everywhere it appears, we take another step toward stamping it out. Thank you.
