Keep in mind that the 180 innings he pitched was the most he’d ever thrown, and he even acknowledged he wore down as the season waned. I think you’re seeing the front office address this with the four super-utility pitchers they’ve stacked in the pen in Warren, Cahill, Richards and Wood. I anticipate many short stints for Hendricks (and Hammel) especially at the beginning of the year.

His max velocity dropped off in the playoffs, seemed he was only hitting 87-88 rather than the 91 occasional 92 from the regular season. What I am hoping is that his workload last year simply means he’ll be conditioned to retain the higher velocity deeper into this coming season.
