Ha!! I might believe it more if you had mentioned Maddon’s desire to improve contact rates, an area that Baez has improved but he’s still strikeout prone.

Baez can spell Bryant, Russell, Zobrist and supposedly now Heyward in CF. He’d get plenty of playing time and bring a big bat when he’s in the lineup. Russell actually concerns me a little, he’s young and has had two significant hamstring injuries in as many years. I’d keep Baez just in case since Torres isn’t anywhere near ready.

That said, I’d trade him given the right deal. Even if not really in the plans to trade right now we might need Baez as a trade piece before July 31.
