You really have to go all of the way back to 2009 to find a season in which he pitched a fairly even amount of games between first and second half. No question he has had some late-season durability issues. Definitely something to keep an eye on, as the Cubs depth could come in handy. To answer your question, he didn’t see a velocity dip in 2009, no.

Has Hammel seen a similar drop in velocity, in particular fastball velocity, in his second half splits in prior years (non-injured years), given the general drop in second half numbers he has produced?
