Fantastic article!! Thanks much for writing such a wonderful piece. As a life long Cubs fan (born in '59) I feel a great amount of optimism and see tremendous potential in Jorge Soler. It would be VERY sad to see the Cubs move him in a deal for pitching as I think there is a very good chance this kid becomes an absolute superstar. I have said (and stand by) that during his struggles at the plate this year, all he really needs to do is step an inch or two closer to the plate. Pitchers have exploited his position in the batters box by throwing alot of outside heat and off speed stuff down and away. When he gets stuff in (where he can get to it), he just destroys it. Stepping closer will immediately result in getting more hittable pitches in his wheel house. The kid is a natural line drive hitter and needs no tweaking of his mechanics or swing. Thanks again for the great article and sorry to go all "arm chair coach" on ya'll but what upside Soler has!

Great hope for this young man. After my instant grief, the next thought I had on Schwarber's injury was how badly this was needed for George. I'm not sure he can learn and adapt with sporadic starts from the bench as he would just getting in there, making mistakes and figuring it out as he plays.

I also appreciate very much your accuracy in the conditions in Cuba and not glossing over it or politicizing it (either direction) as some writers have done as late.

Good piece on Soler. He's still my favorite prospect on this team and I think he's going to be a star. His exit velocity and batted ball distance all point to him having significant pop. I hope he can make real progress this year.

Leigh, your writing style is different from everyone else, and I love it. This was a great reminder about a kid who is really just a kid, and all the things he's going through that go far beyond just being a good baseball player.

Great article and reminder! Keep up the great work! I wish you wrote more often!
