Pinch-hitting Montero made no sense. I swear Maddon enjoys running out of bench players do he can tinker... I recall a playoff game in Tampa in which the Rays inexplicably lost the DH.

I have been saying to move HeyHey down the order since the end of April but was talked out of it by those who point out he has historically (bad) April/May starts and that his other metrics suggest he is due.

The (barely) HR last night was encouraging, but my gut still feels like he doesn't belong there, especially during the run lack. But what the hell do I know. I was worried about Zobrist a month ago too.

Not really that brilliant. Pinch-hitting Montero for Ross just meant that Fed had to PH for the pitcher; you burn what remains of your bench and you get Fed instead of Ross batting. Pinch-running for Rizzo with Baez (as opposed to a pitcher, if you really need to pinch-run) further shortened the bench.
