If Aroldis wasn’t ready to sign an extension before coming to the Cubs, I think having fellow Cuban Jorge Soler explain the “extra love” that comes with being part of the organization might actually have some impact. Many of these guys really do just want to win. Like Heyward and Zobrist both said, it’s also much easier to come to work every day when you enjoy it and feel like you’re part of family. I can’t imagine the FO spending so much to get him here without also coming very very close to meeting his asking price to keep him.
