I wonder if some of the problems he had with Maddon&#039;s quick pulls had to do with reaching his IP.

Jason sure had his chances, ending June at 2.48 ERA (albeit with an unsustainably high BABIP)  before giving up 10 ER to the Mets July 1st.  There was a serious case to be made Hammel was performing as the 2nd or 3rd best pitcher on the Cubs.

Even by mid August he was at 2.75 ERA  and even though he&#039;s no longer as effective, he&#039;s rehabilitated his market value IMO.

With Montgomery and Edwards in the wings, and an off season looming, I wouldn&#039;t be terribly surprised to see Jason somewhere else by ASG next year if not Spring Training.]]></description>
