I would attribute this to trying to limit stolen bases.

While it may be unfair to expect a repeat of such an elite defensive performance, I see no real reason for the defense to have a dramatic dropoff in 2017.

And that D is about to be even better in CF, at 2B, and C.

But speaking of Lester vs Jake, let’s all try to remember it’s not just about last year (when Lester was an all-time fortunate). Comparing both over 2 yrs, Jake is far better. Ditto gor past 3 yrs. Ditto 4. Ditto 5. And Jake remains 2 yrs, 2 months, and 1000 IP younger than Lester. That’s for those that don’t think Jake is worth the money; whatever he’s worth, it’s more than Lester.
