Walks don’t get the runners in, and if a runner is in scoring position, it only takes a single to score him (so SLG is less of a benefit).

BA also seems to matter against tougher pitchers, as in the postseason, who won’t give a lot of walks but can still throw hard-to-hit pitches in the strike zone.
