In reality Jake has only been ‘exceptional’ the 2nd half of 2015, the first 2 months of 2016 and the past month. I suppose there might be enough evidence of ‘fixing’ his delivery if he closes out through the playoffs exceptionally – but then, why not go for a much more reliable Cueto instead?

And if Jake continues to show streaks of greatness combined with mediocrity – why sink dollars there?

If Boras would go for 3-4 years at a reasonable number I think there is a deal there but I think there are many other clubs who would outbid the Cubs quickly.
