But he’s not as great as many try to build him to be. Yet. It’s not a small thing he is among the WORST in “clutch” ranking. Per BR:

Behold, the one and only knock against MLB’s most decorated young star.

In low-leverage situations, Kris Bryant owns a 1.071 OPS that ranks second in MLB. He’s pretty good in medium leverage too, posting a .958 OPS.

But in high leverage, he’s downright bad with a .492 OPS in 96 plate appearances. A stat called “tOPS+” shows that, relative to his overall performance, this makes Bryant MLB’s worst high-leverage performer.

The beautiful thing is he won’t stop working at his craft and he’ll get all the attention he is due when he passes both the eye and stat test.
