The overuse combined with the injury history make me believe the Cubs would rather pony up real cash for Wade or Holland (and don’t forget – they’ve got a LOT of cash coming in 2 years from the TV deal) so I wouldn’t be shocked to see some of these deals get creative in pushing out payments into the future but taking advantage of the cheap core position players now. It will be curious to see how much they count on Wilson rebounding and how desperate they get in pushing some of the farm arms…
