Aha! A Neo-Futurist! I should have suspected that before I reached the end.

Interesting take and well worked out. It probably deserved to be read a few more times to soak in the nuance. Regardless, I will probably continue to enjoy both Disneyland and the Chicago Cubs, even if they both are but a simulation. But I enjoyed reading and thinking about this piece that attempted to define what this odd feeling is that I've had since the Cubs recorded that final out in November, 2016. I was happy -- but it also felt a little odd and not at all similar to how I felt after the Bears' 1986 Super Bowl victory or any of the Bulls' championships. This gives me some further food for thought about what that feeling might be and why it feels that way.
