The Cubs played 18 innings of baseball yesterday, and they’re playing zero tonight. Tomorrow they’ll play (at least) 18 innings again. This schedule is a bold new direction for baseball—one that really gives those pace of play arguments more weight.
Obviously, this is a seriously well-timed rainout, of the kind that fans of Spahn and Sain prayed for. The Cubs only arrived in Denver at 5 a.m. Colorado time, so who knows if any of them have had any sleep. Now they’ll have a chance to rest, unless any of them are big Warriors fans.
The Cubs will play a day/night doubleheader tomorrow, with the first game’s first pitch at 3:10 p.m. local time.
